LAKE AREA RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION
WHO WE ARE AND HOW YOU CAN BECOME INVOLVED

The Lake/Rosemont Area Residents Association is a voluntary group of residents, involved in preserving the high quality of life we enjoy in our neighborhood. Our Board of Directors meets the second Wednesday of each month, 7:30 p.m., at Kennedy School Library. All residents are welcome to attend our meetings.

LARA is the voice of the neighborhood. We have been working with residents and the city to maintain the quality of life we enjoy in the Lake, including maintaining plantings, planning family events, and voicing our neighbors' concerns before the city council and with city staff.

Over the past few years, we have been involved in efforts to beautify the plantings in the neighborhood. We work with the city to administer the Lighting & Landscaping District funds received from neighborhood property taxes. This money is used to plant and maintain the median plantings on Edgewater and Parkshore Drives. We have also planted trees in the eucalyptus grove, and we work with the city to ensure that all plantings are attractive and healthy.

We have also been involved in special projects in the neighborhood, including hosting presentations by the developer who plans to build new housing at the Lake and Jarvis corner, and working with city departments to enforce traffic regulations and to ensure that the city responds to our concerns.

In addition to serious issues, we also hope to organize fun neighborhood events. We are planning a Family Day at the Lake for next spring, featuring art and restaurant booths, children's arts and crafts, and family games and entertainment.
